GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SCA

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is a private, nondenominational Christian school in southeast Lee’s Summit, MO. As a Christian school, SCA requires that all employees be professing Christians who attend a Bible-believing church.

SCA has an early ed through 12th grade program on a 36-acre campus that includes two facilities, as well as track, baseball, soccer, and football fields. Founded in 1989 with 32 elementary students, SCA has a current PS-12th grade enrollment of nearly 1,100. SCA offers a highly academic, college-preparatory program that includes 80 dual credit hours for high school students.

The elementary program includes the Foundations & Frameworks reading curriculum that greatly enhances reading comprehension through critical thinking skills, in addition to daily special classes.

SCA is dually accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and by Cognia.

TEACHER POSITIONS

SCA teachers should have a heart to spiritually disciple students and partner with highly engaged and supportive parents. Teachers benefit from the school’s strong academic program and uniquely designed curriculum.

SCA offers a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, life, and flexible spending account. Teachers also receive a tuition discount (maximum discount of 50%) and free childcare for their students.

2022-23 School Year

English - SCA is accepting applications from candidates to teach high school English classes. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in English education. Ideal candidates would have a master's degree in English. 

Public Speaking - SCA is accepting applications for a Dual Credit Public Speaking teacher. Candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree in Communications. Prior dual credit and/or college teaching experience is a plus.

Speech & Debate Teacher and Coach (FT) - SCA is accepting applications from candidates to teach junior and senior high speech and debate classes, in addition to coaching debate. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with experience in the area of speech & debate. Ideal candidates would have a master’s degree in speech or a directly related discipline in order to teach dual credit speech classes. Ideal candidates would also be available for several months for weekend debate tournaments, which comes with a separate stipend.

Math - SCA is accepting application for a junior high and high school math instructor. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an area of math. Ideal candidates would have secondary education classes, a master’s in math, and prior math teaching experience is a plus.

Special Education - SCA is accepting applications for two resource services teachers. Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. One position includes resource services in the area of English, so candidates must have English college classes and/or teaching experience. The other position will support developing student academic strategies.

Vocal Music - SCA is accepting applications from candidates to teach elementary vocal music. Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music. Advanced degree and prior teaching experience is a plus.

CAMP EAGLE SUMMIT

SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS

Secondary Office Assistant - SCA is accepting applications for a full-time office assistant. Ideal candidates have experience managing a high volume of incoming calls, greeting visitors, and have a high degree of attention to detail to record student attendance. Position includes a tuition discount. 

Elementary Office Assistant - SCA is accepting applications for a full-time elementary office assistant. Ideal candidates will have excellent customer service skills to manage incoming calls, greet visitors, and should also have great attention to detail to record student attendance. Position will assist with special projects and includes a tuition discount.

Custodial Workers - With the addition of six additional secondary classrooms, SCA has an urgent need for more part-time custodial workers and is accepting applications. Somewhat flexible evening hours that would include a tuition discount.

Summer Custodial Workers - SCA is in great need of janitorial workers for summer deep cleaning. Hours would be part-time (2-3 days for approximately 16-24 hours per week).

Grounds Staff - SCA is accepting applications for full-time grounds coordinator and part-time grounds worker positions that includes field maintenance, snow removal, maintenance of outdoor machines/vehicles, and light mechanical and construction skills. Knowledge of planting and caring for plants, shrubs, and lawns is a plus. Both positions come with tuition discount.

Technology Assistant - SCA is accepting applications for a full-time technology assistant. Duties would include manning the help desk, repair of Chromebooks, troubleshoot phones and tech issues, repair/replacement of hardware parts, running sound for events, etc. Position includes a tuition discount.

Teacher Aides Elementary - SCA is accepting applications for teacher aides to support school growth. Early ed and elementary aides will work directly with students to provide support for classroom teachers, as SCA continues its legacy of academic excellence. Positions will be approximately 29 hours per week and include tuition discounts.

Lunch Support Staff - SCA is accepting applications for part-time lunch assistants to include cooks and serving/cleanup staff. Number of days and hours vary. All positions include a prorated tuition discount based on weekly hours worked. 

Childcare Providers - SCA is accepting applications for childcare providers for the Godly Aftercare Program (GAP). Hours may be 7:00 to 8:15 a.m. and/or 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Prior childcare experience is a plus and a love and concern for children is a must! Bus Drivers – Ideal candidates must have a Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement. If you are Interested but do not have this endorsement, SCA will provide training for you to secure the required license. Drivers will provide transportation for field trips and/or athletic events on an as-needed basis. Position does not include a tuition discount. Candidates for all positions must demonstrate a high level of knowledge for the sport and must be able to effectively communicate that knowledge to student/athletes for their development. The ideal candidate would have playing experience and prior coaching experience, be motivated to work with a wide range of abilities, and coach with passion and compassion. Candidates should be dedicated to in-season and off-season player development.

SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS

Substitute Teachers - With a teaching staff of 75, SCA is always in need of substitute teachers. If you, or someone you know, is interested in serving as a classroom sub, please complete the substitute application. Candidates must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Prior teaching and/or subbing experience is a plus.

Substitute Classroom Aides - SCA is also looking for classroom aide substitutes. Classroom aides will monitor classrooms when the classroom teacher has the need to teach remotely. College credit hours are not required for this position. A love for students and the ability to maintain order are musts. Candidates for these positions should complete the support staff application. 

Office Substitutes - SCA is accepting applications for occasional substitutes to serve in the elementary and/or secondary office. Candidates must have prior administrative experience, excellent communication skills, experience in Microsoft programs, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
