GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SCA

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is a private, nondenominational preschool through 12th grade school in southeast Lee's Summit, MO. Founded in 1989 with 32 elementary students, SCA has a current PS-12th grade enrollment of 1,050.

SCA offers a highly academic, college-preparatory program that includes 80 dual-credit hours for high school students. The elementary program includes the Foundations & Frameworks reading curriculum that greatly enhances reading comprehension through critical thinking skills.

SCA is dually accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and by Cognia.

TEACHER POSITIONS

Secondary Social Studies Teacher - SCA is accepting applications from candidates to teach high school Social Studies classes. Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Studies or Secondary Education. Ideal candidates would have a Master’s degree in a social studies area.

Secondary English Teacher - SCA is accepting applications for an English I teacher. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an English related field. Ideal candidates would have a secondary English education degree and prior teaching experience.

Speech & Debate Teacher/Coach - SCA is accepting application for a Speech & Debate teacher and coach. Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s in a related field. Ideal candidates would have prior debate and/or coaching experience.

SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS

Custodial Workers - SCA is accepting applications for part-time custodial workers. Somewhat flexible evening hours that would include a tuition discount.

Teacher Aide (Secondary) - SCA is accepting applications for Teacher Aide (Secondary) for 7-12 grade to include proctoring exams and providing support to the Learning Commons and Student Success Center. Position will be approximately 28 hours per week and includes tuition discount.

Teacher Aide (Elementary) - SCA is accepting applications for several teacher aides for the 2021-22 school year to support school growth. Early ed and elementary aides will work directly with students to provide support for classroom teachers, as SCA continues its legacy of academic excellence. Positions will be approximately 29 hours per week and include tuition discounts.

Childcare Providers - SCA is accepting applications for childcare providers for the Godly Aftercare Program (GAP). Hours may be 7-8:15 a.m. and/or 2-6 p.m. Prior childcare experience is a plus and a love and concern for children is a must!

Bus Drivers - Ideal candidates must have a Class B CDL with a passenger endorsement. If you are Interested but do not have this endorsement, SCA will provide training for you to secure the required license. Drivers will provide transportation for field trips and/or athletic events on an as-needed basis. Position does not include a tuition discount.

COACHING POSITIONS

Summit Christian Academy has the following coaching positions available for the 2021/2022 school year.

Junior High Track & Field (spring 2022) - Candidates for all positions must demonstrate a high level of knowledge for the sport and must be able to effectively communicate that knowledge to student/athletes for their development. The ideal candidate would have playing experience and prior coaching experience, be motivated to work with a wide range of abilities, and coach with passion and compassion. Candidates should be dedicated to in-season and off-season player development.

SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS

Substitute Teachers - With a teaching staff of 75, SCA is always in need of substitute teachers. If you, or someone you know, is interested in serving as a classroom sub, please complete the substitute application. Candidates must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Prior teaching and/or subbing experience is a plus.

Office Substitutes – SCA is accepting applications for occasional substitutes to serve in the elementary and/or secondary office. Candidates must have prior administrative experience, excellent communication skills, experience in Microsoft programs, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.

Substitute Classroom Aides - SCA is also looking for classroom aide substitutes. Classroom aides will monitor classrooms when the classroom teacher has the need to teach remotely. College credit hours are not required for this position. A love for students and the ability to maintain order are musts. Candidates for these positions should complete the Support Staff application.
