(Lee’s Summit ) - Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce the Class of 2023 Linda Harrelson Legacy of Servant Leadership Scholarship award winner, Katie Coats.
The $5,000 scholarship was named for SCA’s previous Head of School Linda Harrelson, who served in the role at SCA for 22 years. SCA teachers nominated students who were exceptional examples of the SCA Core Values, particularly the values of Christ-Centered and Igniting Leadership.
Katie served as a member of National Honor Society, participated on the SCA Cross Country & Track & Field Team, served as the Morning Prayer Co-Leader, a member of the Student Ambassador program, and was the Spring 2023 Christian Character Award recipient. Mrs. Harrelson announced Katie’s award at the SCA 2023 Commencement Ceremony held on May 12 in the SCA Fieldhouse & Activity Center.
“Katie consistently exemplified humble servant leadership in line with SCA’s Core Value of being a Christ-Centered leader during her 12 years at SCA,” shared former SCA Head of School Mrs. Harrelson, whom the scholarship was named.
