(Lee’s Summit) – After six years as the varsity head coach of the Summit Christian Academy Eagles football team, Coach Todd Berck will step down at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. Coach Berck currently serves as the head football coach, junior high athletic director, assistant baseball coach, and takes care of athletic field maintenance. He has been a key leader for the SCA football program after being hired in 2017. During his time at SCA, he was named the Kansas City Chiefs Coach of the Week twice, and Crossroads Conference Coach of the Year four times (2018-2021). He led the Eagles to three district titles (2018-2020) and four conference titles (2018-2021). Fourteen players earned All-State honors under his leadership, including 1st Team Linebacker Cale Johnson in 2021. Additionally, 48 players earned All-District and 80 earned All-Conference selections during his time leading the SCA football program.
“While I only worked with Coach Berck for two football seasons, this is what I know about him. I know he loves Jesus, loves kids, and loves to use the platform of football and competition to share the LOVE of Christ and life lessons,” shared SCA Head of School Mr. Chris Hahn.
“From the time Coach Berck was hired at SCA, he used every position he held here to make SCA a better place. He was 100% ‘All SCA’ and wanted to see everything at SCA do well,” shared SCA Athletic Director Lance Quessenberry. “His impact will be felt at SCA for years to come, not only in the football program, but the entire school community. Even as good of a coach and ambassador as he was for SCA, that still falls a distant second to who he is as a person. It has truly been a privilege to work with Coach Berck and I wish him nothing but the best in what God has for him.”
“Coach Berck is a man of God and desires to help others see Christ through him and through the sports that he coaches,” shared SCA Secondary Principal and Director of Operations Joe Hesman. “I have been blessed to work with Coach Berck since he started at SCA and know that so many of our players have been deeply blessed by being mentored by him. I know that whatever God is calling Coach Berck to do in the future, it will be something where he is making a positive impact on those around him for Christ!”
Coach Berck attended Southwest Baptist University where he played football and earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
