(Lee’s Summit) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that three students have won scholarships from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 5789.
Eighth grade student Parker Law won first place in the 6th-8th grade Patriot’s Pen competition, and a scholarship of $250. The Patriot’s Pen essay topic this year was, “My Voice in America’s Democracy.”
Junior Kate Hagan won first place in the 9th-12th grade Voice of Democracy competition, and a scholarship of $500. Junior Kailee Burke won second place in the 9th-12th grade Voice of Democracy competition, and a scholarship of $200. The Voice of Democracy essay topic this year was, “Is America Today our Forefathers’ Vision?”. To compete, students had to write an essay and record their voice reading this essay for three-five minutes.
