At the 16th annual SCA Elementary Food Drive, sixth grade students (l-r) Nolan Richards, Daniel Elizondo, Cecilia Kirkpatrick, Brayden Lightle, Rylann Pfeifer, Isaiah Hale, and Gabe Olla help pack trucks with some of the nearly 5,000 units of food donated by SCA students in time for local churches to distribute them for Thanksgiving.

(Lee’s Summit) - Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is grateful to support Kansas City families for Thanksgiving through the 16th annual elementary food drive.

One of the Core Values of Summit Christian Academy is Cultivating Community.  SCA recognizes that community extends beyond the walls of the school, and the annual Elementary Food Drive helps SCA students see first-hand the importance of serving and blessing their community.

Recently, the elementary students donated nearly 5,000 units of food and paper products. The sixth grade students organized the items, packed them into boxes, and loaded them into the truck to be shared with Kansas City area families through the outreach at Courageous Life Church in Independence and Hearts and Hands in Belton.

“It truly is a highlight of the year to see our students walking through the hallways, proudly carrying their cans and goods, excited to make a difference in the lives of those in need,” shared SCA Elementary Principal Kelly Montgomery. “Together, we are making a meaningful impact in our community.”
