SCA freshman Christine Xiong’s “Reflective Self Portrait” won the U.S. Fifth Congressional District Art Competition which will be framed and displayed at the United States Capitol building for one year.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that freshman Ruisi (Christine) Xiong has been announced as the winner of the 2024 United States Fifth Congressional District Art Competition.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and winning entries are selected by panels of district artists. Winners are recognized in both their district and at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. where their works are displayed for one year at the United States Capitol building.

In addition to her artwork, “Reflective Self Portrait”, being framed and displayed at the Capitol, Christine received roundtrip tickets to attend the annual reception on June 27, 2024.

Christine is SCA’s first student that has been selected as the top winner of this competition. In addition, SCA 2024 graduate Bella Wilson received SCA’s next highest rankings in the Fifth Congressional District Art Competition, as she received second place in the 2023 competition and tied for second place again in 2024.
