SCA sophomore Ruisi (Christine) Xiong won the United States’ fifth Congressional District Art Competition 2024. Her artwork, “Reflective Self Portrait” was framed for display in Washington D.C., where Christine attended the annual reception and was honored by Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver, II.

(Lee’s Summit) Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that sophomore Ruisi (Christine) Xiong was the winner of the United States’ fifth Congressional District Art Competition 2024. This was SCA’s first year to have a student win the competition.


Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Christine’s original artwork was framed for display in Washington D.C. at the United States Capitol, where it will be displayed for a year representing Missouri’s fifth Congressional District.

Christine attended the annual reception in Washington, D.C. where she was honored by Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver, II.
