(Lee’s Summit ) - Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce the Class of 2024 Linda Harrelson Legacy of Servant Leadership Scholarship award winner, Hunter Harris, son of Mark and Krista Harris.

The $5,000 scholarship was named for SCA’s previous Head of School Linda Harrelson, who served in the role at SCA for 22 years. SCA teachers nominated students who were exceptional examples of the SCA Core Values, particularly the values of Christ-Centered and Igniting Leadership.

Hunter served as a member of the International Thespian Society, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Worship Team. He was a morning prayer co-leader, choir president, Spiritual Climate Committee vice president, and a small group leader. Hunter lettered in theatre, baseball, and choir. In addition, he received awards including a Christian Character Award, Principal’s Honor Roll, Scholar Athlete, and multiple district and state choir awards.

SCA Board President, Don Bisbee, announced Hunter’s award at the SCA 2024 Commencement Ceremony held on May 10 at Journey Church International. Hunter was also announced as the SCA 2024 Student of the Year.

“Hunter is a superb choice for the Linda Harrelson Legacy of Servant Leadership Scholarship,” shared SCA Secondary Principal Joe Hesman. “Hunter loves the Lord and loves others. I have witnessed him on multiple occasions drop what he is doing to help someone else. He is also an encourager and desires to point people to Christ through his own actions and words! So blessed to see Hunter be chosen for this prestigious award!”
